Held at their headquarters in Parliament Square,  London,James Kavanagh MRICS, RICS Director Land Group presented The Tao of measurement – An introduction to measured surveys, BIM and valuation measurementThis was extremely well received by the large crowd of surveying professionals in attendance.

RICS Geomatics has recently reviewed the industry standard ‘1:500 surveys 2nd 1997’ and updated to a new edition ‘measured surveys of land, buildings and utilities 3rd ed 2014.’  This new guidance note  introduces important new standards including International Property Measurement Standards (IPMS)  and Survey4BIM standards.

The reason for the update is the landscape of  techniques and technology used to measure, deliver and store survey data has changed dramatically in the last 17 years.

The RICS along with ICES and TSA are keen to be at the forefront of promoting common standards and upholding quality, within the geomatics industry.

Spatial Dimensions managing director Claire Fenwick commented “I was delighted to attend the event, alongside many of my peers and hear about the updates to the guidance notes.

“At Spatial Dimensions, we pride ourselves on having the expert knowledge to  advise our clients on all of their measurement requirements and specifications. Therefore having a relevant and up to date guide to adhere to, is vital for all parties involved”

“I would like to thank the RICS and all the members involved in updating this latest edition. Their hard work  and efforts will continue to ensure the highest quality of surveys across the industry.”
