Geo Business 2017 Review
May 26, 2017
GEO Business 2017 – the UK’s biggest geospatial exhibition and conference of the year, returned this week to the Business Design Centre in Islington.
Visitors came from all over the globe to learn about the latest developments in the geospatial world. The organisers claimed over 3,000 from 67 countries in total. Whilst obviously we cant verify these numbers its certainly fair to say the conference and exhibition areas were extremely busy for the duration of the event.
There was a packed conference programme with topics such as efficiency, resilience, automation, BIM standards, digital engineering, smart technology and the implications of Brexit under discussion. The keynote line up was impressive with presentations from HS2’s Sadie Morgan, Ordnance Survey’s CEO Nigel Clifford, & ESRI’s Charles Kennelly.
There were around 200 industry exhibitors also in attendance, showcasing the latest technology innovations such as mobile mapping, 3D reality capture cameras, drones, robotics and Laser scanners. All aimed at enabling the end users (us) to capture more data, more efficiently. It was a great opportunity to catch up with everyone in the supply chain.
Of course it was also a great opportunity to catch up with fellow geospatial professionals from around the UK and a lot of great networking was had.
Spatial Dimensions Managing Director, Claire Fenwick (pictured below) had this to say “Geo Business 2017 was a really good event, a chance for the industry to gather in one place and discuss how we can make things better. We are always looking to find way to improve our techniques for the benefit of our clients. By Geo Business bringing all of the supply chain together for these 2 days it makes it easier to compare what is hot and what is not!”
