What are 3D virtual tours?
We create beautiful high-resolution presentations and 3D models of existing spaces by collating images and data captured on site using the Matterport cameras and platform. These 3D Virtual Tours work seamlessly across multiple devices (phones/tablets/desktop) and are compatible with most VR platforms. Each captured space gives the user the flexibility to move around the property to get an accurate reflection of what the place is actually like.
Here is a short example to give you a feel.
Who is this for?
This way of presenting survey data is ideal for architects, project managers, contractors and developers during a project to document key construction milestones, providing transparency throughout the process, whilst effectively communicating progress to all project stakeholders.
Additionally, 3D Virtual Tours can be commissioned when a project has been completed, to showcase the building and attract new clients. Designed for everyone the tours are perfect for embedding into a project page or digital marketing material or even uploading to Google Streetview.
Matterport have developed a market leading UI and platform to build and view the 3D Virtual tours. The tours look and feel better than typical 360 tours as a much larger number of camera placements are used in order to create the 3D data. The interface features multiple navigation points. Additional information and media can be embedded within the tours to highlight key points.
The Matterport camera records light and depth data to rapidly generate an accurate photo-realistic 3D scanned model of a space. The scans are created by moving the device to successive positions around a building, with each scan rotation taking under a minute.
When complete, the raw scan data is uploaded to the cloud and generates a 3D model, which can either be downloaded as a point cloud file (the same output as laser scanner) as a coloured texture map mesh file, or viewed in a web browser.
How is this different from other 3D scanning products?
This is a product designed to be viewed by the end user and was originally developed in the US for the Real Estate market. Which means incredibly easy to use, beautiful presentations that can be viewed by anyone with a decent internet connection. The tours are hosted on Amazon Web Services so there is zero downtime and the products are being continuously improved so old jobs can be added to.
